Exchange rates

Enable tracked currencies and inspect the latest recorded exchange rates.

Exchange rates controls which currencies the organisation tracks on-chain and shows the latest rate its scheduled refresh job recorded for each. That job runs on a deployment-configured interval, an hour by default and never less than five minutes. The gap between adding a currency and its first recorded rate is real: nothing backfills a rate before the job's next tick, so newly enabled currencies sit without one until that tick runs. Every rate here feeds the same conversion path the platform's asset values, portfolio totals, and value-history calculations read from. A stale or missing rate can prevent a current valuation in that currency.

The base currency and the initial target currencies are written once, when the organisation is deployed; this page is where you add to that set afterward. This screen carries no control to change the base currency itself, and it has no effect on a token's own price, which Token pricing controls separately.

Adding a currency is permanent everywhere, not only on this screen: once its on-chain feed exists, the platform refuses to remove it for any caller, Console or API alike (DALP-0600). Add only currencies the organisation actually needs valuations in, rather than adding every currency a counterparty might someday ask about. An unused tracked currency is not free to leave enabled: its feed still receives a signed on-chain update on every refresh tick, for as long as it stays tracked. That ongoing cost cannot be undone later if the organisation's needs change.

Adding a currency is one of the operations the organisation's Audit trail records, alongside your name and role at the time, so you can identify the account that enabled it.

Steps

Open Exchange rates

Browse to the exchange rates path directly rather than through the sidebar, and confirm you are in the right organisation first, since tracked currencies are scoped to the active one. The page heading reads Currencies & Exchange Rates.

Exchange rates page with target currencies and latest rates

Screen equivalent: the page shows a Target currencies section listing enabled currencies, with the organisation's base currency marked default, above a Latest rates table of currency pairs, rates, update times, and freshness states.

Add currencies

Use the Add currencies field to search and select one or more supported currencies, then select Save additions. Adding a currency creates a permanent on-chain feed for it; once that feed exists, no caller, this screen included, can remove the currency again. Automating this addition drives the same settings endpoints this screen calls, subject to the same no-removal rule.

Troubleshooting

No exchange rate feeds

This organisation has not deployed the required feeds yet. Deploy FX feeds through the organisation's onboarding flow before rates can appear here.

A valuation is missing or stale for a currency

Check this page for the currency's rate freshness first. Asset values, portfolio totals, and value history all read the same rate this page shows, so a stale or missing rate can explain a valuation problem. Also check the token price and indexed balance.

A newly added currency has no rate yet

This is expected immediately after adding a currency. The rate only appears once the on-chain feed created for it has been through a scheduled refresh, so anything priced in that currency shows no value in the moments right after you add it. The refresh runs on a deployment-configured interval, an hour by default and never less than five minutes. If the organisation's refresh scheduler is disabled outright, no rate will ever appear on its own; confirm with whoever manages the deployment that the scheduler is enabled before waiting any further.

The currency picker lists only USD, EUR, SGD, AED, and JPY

This happens when the platform holds no recent currency list from the exchange-rate provider, for example on a new deployment before the first refresh. Until that list arrives, the platform accepts only these five currencies, and the picker offers the same five. Every currency the picker offers can be saved. The full provider list appears after the next refresh.

Save additions fails

A save can fail for more than one reason, and only some are worth retrying without a fix first. Check the error and Target currencies before retrying. The picker removes currencies that were added, so its contents alone do not prove whether the save succeeded. Creating currency feeds requires the operator wallet to hold the required on-chain role. If the error names that missing role, ask a system manager to grant it before retrying. The failure retrying never clears is a currency the organisation's exchange-rate provider does not support: that one fails on the currency itself, not on any condition a retry can outlast. See the error reference for the full set of save failures and which ones are retryable.

Frequently asked questions

I do not see a Dev tools section in my sidebar. Is Exchange rates still available to me?

Yes. Dev tools is only the sidebar entry point, and it renders only in a local development build. The Admin or System Manager check that gates this page runs the same way in every deployed Console, so browsing to the page directly works there too.

Are the rates on this table updated in real time?

No. The Console describes the table as a live snapshot, but that means it reflects whatever the scheduled refresh job last wrote to the indexer, not a value recomputed on every page load. Reloading the page does not force a new rate, and there is no manual refresh control here; the freshness state per row is what tells you how current a given rate actually is.

How is this page different from Data feeds?

Data feeds registers trusted on-chain values by subject and topic: a price, or any other reference figure a token reads. Exchange rates is a separate, narrower subsystem. It tracks only currency-conversion pairs, and it is where the organisation's valuation path gets the rates it converts through, rather than a token's own price.

Can I search or export the rate table?

Yes. The table's toolbar carries a search box scoped to currency pairs, plus export and column-visibility controls, the same data-table toolbar used across the Console's other tables.
